Daniel Vaughan Williams

Dan is a founder member of Apex and serves as its Head. He was educated at Cardiff High School and Birmingham University and called to the Bar in 1993.He was appointed a Recorder in 2008.

Dan specialises in crime including regulatory crime. He both defends and prosecutes. He is a Grade 4 prosecutor and has prosecuted cases of murder, attempted murder (as a junior alone), manslaughter, serious sexual offences and fraud. He has also prosecuted on behalf of Her Majesty´s Customs and Excise, the Environment Agency and County Councils, on whose behalf he has appeared in the Administrative Court.

Dan has defended in equally wide ranging cases, appearing on behalf of those charged with homicide, serious fraud, serious sexual and other offences and has defended five very high cost cases.

He has represented police officers in the Crown Court upon charges including rape, section 18 GBH, and conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice.

Dan has also appeared on behalf of police officers in Misconduct Tribunals and in the Coroner´s Court and on behalf of rugby players at W.R.U. disciplinary hearings.

Dan has been recognised by Chambers and Partners as a top-rank leading junior since 2003. In 2005, it described him as "first rate"; a year later, the Legal 500 said he was "silk material".
