Client of Mr Jonathan Elystan Rees acquitted in alleged police corruption case

On 23rd November 2015, the Recorder of Cardiff directed the jury to return not guilty verdicts on two counts of theft faced by Mr Phillip Christopher Evans, a Detective Constable with South Wales Police. DC Evans had been accused of participating in the theft of approximately £30,000 in total from monies which had been seized from domestic properties in Swansea under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. After three weeks of evidence, the Recorder heard and agreed with legal submissions on behalf of DC Evans from Mr Jonathan Elystan Rees of chambers, bringing proceedings against DC Evans to an end.
