Matthew Comer

OVERVIEW

Matthew was called to the Bar in 2001. He then qualified as a solicitor specialising in criminal defence work. Matthew was a founding partner of a criminal defence firm which was established in 2010.

His practice focussed predominantly on all aspects of Crown Court advocacy. Matthew continued to work in this role until he joined Apex Chambers in 2023.

Matthew has extensive experience of providing representation in the Crown Court in relation to all types of offences. These include offences of serious violence, murder, serious sexual offences including rape, offences involving the supply of drugs and serious offences of dishonesty.

 

Matthew has also successfully appeared in the Court of Appeal on several occasions.

 

Matthew undertakes prosecution as well as defence work.

 

Prior to studying law, Matthew was awarded a first class degree and a PhD in Philosophy from Swansea University.
