Sali Harmes

OVERVIEW

​

Sali was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in 2024. She joined Chambers in 2025, following the successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Clare Wilks.​

Sali accepts instructions in all of Chambers’ practice areas. She regularly prosecutes on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service, Local Authorities and South Wales police forces, and has defended a wide range of cases for local firms. Sali regularly appears in both the Crown Court and the Magistrates’ Court. 

 

Prior to pupillage, Sali read Law and completed the Bar Training Course at Cardiff University. 

 

NOTABLE CASES


R v R (2025) – Sali represented a 28-year-old woman charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession of criminal property. A basis of plea was accepted by the prosecution that the defendant entered the drug sphere following a diagnosis of terminal brain cancer and the development of a cocaine addiction. The defendant received a 24-month suspended sentence. The starting point was one of 4 years 6 months’ custody.

 

R v A (2025) – Sali prosecuted the sentencing hearing of a defendant who was sentenced to 18 months custody for possession with intent to supply controlled class A and class B drugs.

 

R v J (2025) – Sali prosecuted the plea and sentencing hearing of a defendant charged with five counts of dwelling burglary and attempted burglary. The defendant received a sentence of 5 years’ imprisonment.

 

R v C (2025) – Sali successfully prosecuted a defendant charged with ABH and theft of his ex-partner. 

 

GWP v K (2025) – Sali was successful at a contested hearing for a closure order on behalf of the police.
