Sion ap Mihangel

OVERVIEW

Sion is a specialist criminal practitioner focusing on serious crime, including murder, manslaughter, serious sexual offences, serious violence, fraud and drug conspiracies.

 

Sion is instructed to prosecute and defend serious criminal cases and is a category 4 prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service.

 

Sion is also a pupil supervisor.

Sion is frequently instructed by clients whose first language is Welsh. Sion is able to conduct conferences and trials through the medium of Welsh. Sion has also lectured other members of the profession on the use of the Welsh language in the courts.

NOTABLE CASES

Regina v. Maurice Parry – Prosecution of a husband charged with the attempted murder of his wife. The case attracted national coverage. Cross examination of the Defendant was through the medium of Welsh.
Regina v. Zack Davies – Prosecution of a white supremacist with Attempt Murder. This case was widely reported in the national and international press.
Regina v. O’Connor and others – Prosecution of 5 Defendants in a False imprisonment/Robbery/Kidnap/Section 18 wounding.
Regina v. Paul Hughes – Defending in Operation Yonside(major North Wales drugs conspiracy).
Regina v. Leon Thomas – Defending in Operation Measure(North Wales drugs conspiracy).
Regina v. Julius Hecko – Defence junior in Murder.
Regina v. Lukasz Reszpondek – Prosecution junior in Murder.
Regina v. Thomas Blue – Prosecution junior in Murder.

Career History
Sion was a pupil at Sedan House in 1998 and was taken on as a Tenant in 1999.
