OVERVIEW

Tim is ranked for some years as a Leading Individual at the Bar in Legal 500 and in Chambers and Partners, particularly for serious fraud and confiscation. Tim has prosecuted and defended in serious criminal cases for over 25 years. Tim acts for the CPS, HMRC (diversion frauds, VAT and income tax evasion), the Environment Agency, the all-Wales Illegal Money Lending Unit, and various local authorities in areas diverse as food hygiene, poaching to pollution, counterfeiting, Health and Safety, licensing and planning enforcement. 

NOTABLE CASES

R v Silcox (acquitted of importation of 30 million pounds of cocaine);
R v Rodda (murder of one child and attempted murder of another, involving 22 experts in many medical fields, and an appeal after the case of Cannings and publicity about Sir Roy Meadow);

R v Fullerlove (a world-renowned boat builder charged with many millions of pounds of fraudulent trading;
R v Staines (a solicitor acquitted of a 4 million pound legal aid fraud);

Operation Wonder (a five man identity banking conspiracy to defraud involving over 100 bank accounts and hundreds of thousands of pounds);
R v Kirkham (the murder of a wife in front of their 10 year old daughter, who had to give evidence over the video link);

SFO v Raven (the "ICG" Fraud) acquittal of an alleged £250 million 'Ponzi' investment fraud involving 130 companies over 66 countries);

Operation Dirham (a conspiracy to defraud led by a high profile property developer, which resulted in a confiscation finding of £2 million benefit and over £1 million realisable assets);
R v Bachada (conspiracy to defraud NHS and thousands of patients by a high profile dentist and his partner).
